Does everyone who auditions get a role?Yes! At NSCT, we believe that every child who wants to participate in our shows should be able to do so. Every child who auditions will be offered a role! Though size cannot be guaranteed, we know how much every actor can gain through a rehearsal and performance process in each and every role!
-
How many hours will my child rehearse each week?Rehearsal schedules vary based on show and the size of the role. On average: Actors under the age of 7 rehearse 1 hour per week Actors between the ages of 7-12 rehearse 1.5-3 hours per week Actors between the ages of 13-18 rehearse 2-4 hours per week
-
What is your attendance policy? We ask all actors to give advanced notice if they will not be able to attend a rehearsal. Commonly accepted excused absences include illness, previously noted schedule conflicts and religious holidays. Please remember that each actor is a vital part to the show and that missing rehearsals for other reasons does negatively impact the rest of your cast. Though we do not currently remove actors from programming due to lack of attendance, continued, excessive absences for reasons other than those mentioned above can limit an actor's future casting options.
-
Can I still be in a show if I have other commitments (sports, classes, family plans etc.)?We do our best to accommodate actors' other extracurricular activities. Please note any conflicts on audition paperwork and we will try to place them in a cast that does not conflict with other commitments. Please note: the more flexible an actor's schedule is, the more likely he or she is to receive a desired role as this allows us to place him or her in a variety of cast options.
-
What is the NSCT Company?Actors become a member of the North Shore Children's Theatre Company when they have participated in at least two shows a year over the course of three consecutive years. Company members receive an exclusive sweatshirt and their show registration fees waived.
-
Does it cost money to participate?Like many extracurricular activities, performing with NSCT does have a cost, generally between $300 and $400 depending on rehearsal schedule. As a non-profit organization, we rely on these funds to maintain our staff and rehearsal space, create costumes and scenery and reserve a performance hall.
-
How can I pay my tuition? You can pay via cash, check made out to North Shore Children's Theatre or Venmo @Theatre-NSCT (please write Tuition, the show name, and your last name in the message).
-
Do you offer a sibling discount?Yes! For any families with multiple children in coinciding NSCT independent productions, there will be a $50 discount for each additional child after the first. Please note: actors do not need to be in the same production for discount to apply. For example, if a family has 1 actor in the Junior production and 2 in the Teen production, they will pay full price for 1 actor and receive a $50 discount for both other actors.
-
Do you offer scholarships?Yes! At NSCT, we never want funding to be a barrier to your child's ability to participate and perform. If you would benefit from a scholarship or payment plan, please reach out to us directly for your options.
-
Do you provide transportation? At this time, we do not provide any form of transportation to or from our rehearsals. Many of our families carpool and work together to make sure that all kids can attend rehearsals. Though we cannot guarantee anything, if you are struggling to get your actor(s) to rehearsal, reach out to us directly and we will try to connect you to a family in your area.
